PASTOR OF
FAITH FORMATION
Pastor John Anderson serves as Pastor of Faith Formation at Resurrection, where he is passionate about helping people of all ages grow deeper in faith, community, and the love of Jesus. With a heart rooted in the Gospel, Pastor John wants everyone he meets to know and experience the unconditional, life-giving, life-changing love of Christ.
Before stepping into ministry, Pastor John earned his undergraduate degree in Music Performance and a Master’s in Education. He began his professional life in the Kenosha Unified School District as an educator, where his love for teaching and mentoring began to blossom into a deeper call to ministry.
He served for eight years as Youth and Family Minister—and Contemporary Worship Leader—at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church in Kenosha, beginning in 2016. In 2019, he completed his pastoral internship right here at Resurrection, and soon after, accepted his first pastoral call as Lead Pastor at Vernon Lutheran Church in Mukwonago, WI. After three incredible years there, God called him back “home” to Resurrection, where he now leads the church’s faith formation ministries with joy, vision, and a deep love for the community.
Pastor John is married to his incredible wife Andrea, a dedicated Director of Nursing with Advocate Aurora. Together, they raise three amazing boys—Johnny, Owen, and Henry—along with their beloved dogs, Wrigley and Cubbie. When he's not pastoring, you can find John reading, hiking with his family, playing with his ALMOST famous band-The Lonely Ninjas, or cheering on the Cubs.
His favorite verse is John 13:34–35:
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Pastor John considers it a gift to serve alongside his best friend and pastoral teammate, Pastor Ryan—someone who modeled Christ’s love so deeply that it helped lead John to ministry in the first place. He loves his Resurrection church family and has a deep heart for the city of Racine. He is excited to see how God will continue to move in and through Resurrection in BIG and powerful ways.
